Building the foundation
I was fortunate enough to launch my career as a Front End Developer at several startup advertising agencies. Initially, I was very excited about coding websites and applications, and I believed that I would continue to do so for a long time. However, as coding continued to evolve and advance, I struggled to keep up, which led to a loss of passion for coding. I have always had an eye for design, and I realized that it was time for me to transition into the digital world as a UI/UX designer. I taught myself digital design skills and learned the significance of being precise and detail-oriented, especially in product design. I realized how powerful it can be to communicate ideas through the digital medium.
My passion and interest in digital design were sparked by an online UI/UX Design program offered by CareerFoundry. Completing the course in three months, I got a job at Taco Bell Design as a UI/UX Designer. Here, I had the opportunity to work on large-scale digital projects and develop new ideas to enhance the user experience. While I had always been skilled in user interface designer, I realized that to be great, I needed to develop my ability to think strategically and solve problems with innovative solutions. As a result, I took online programs focused on user research and product strategy, which ultimately led to a higher salary. Today, my primary question at the beginning of any project is: what problem are we trying to solve?
I’m currently based in San Diego, CA working as a Product Designer at REALM iDx.
